Women's rights groups protest lack of law against femicide

Headline: “Hebron: A vigil against domestic violence and the murder of young Rawan Abu Hawash”

“The Bikafi Movement to Fight Domestic Violence held a [protest] vigil with the participation of human rights organizations, the national forces, and female activists for women’s rights, against all types of domestic violence and also as a sign of condemnation of the murder of young Rawan Abu Hawash by her ex-husband…

Chairwoman of the Palestinian Women’s Association Ahlam Al-Wahsh noted that Rawan was murdered due to the lack of a deterrent punitive law, and demanded to hurry and legislate the law and carry out parliamentary elections in order to accelerate the legislation of laws that will treat women justly and reject the tribal method of resolution that contributes to the murder of women.”
