PLO official: US encourages Israeli “ethnic cleansing,” Israel falsifies Jerusalem’s history “based on fables, myths”

"PLO Executive Committee member and Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) political bureau member Tayseer Khaled said that the American State Department’s position regarding the rights of the citizens in East Jerusalem and the political and legal status as Palestinian citizens who live in the capital of the State of Palestine under occupation… is an unusual position worthy of condemnation, which is consistent with the claims and narratives of the right-wing and extreme right-wing in Israel that areattempting to falsify the city's history and its national identity throughout history based on fables, myths, and the words of fortune tellers.

These statements came as a response after areport published by the American State Department regarding global human rights yesterday, Wednesday [March 11, 2020], omitted 'Palestinian' from the description of the residents of occupied East Jerusalem, and they were defined as 'non-Israeli residents who live in Jerusalem.'Khaled said that this decision encourages the occupation government, its ministries, and its institutions, and also [Mayor of Jerusalem] Moshe Lion's municipality to continue the policy of quiet ethnic cleansing that the government and municipality are implementing against the Palestinians in their historical city and the eternal capital of their state."
