Fatah spurn aid for handicapped, a "despicable crime"

“The Fatah Movement said that Israel’s taking control of territories in the area of the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs), paving the roads, and installing an elevator for settlers (i.e., for handicapped accessibility to the site) inside the Ibrahimi Mosque, which ispurely Islamic, constitutes a continuation of the Ibrahimi Mosque massacre that was committed by terrorist [Baruch] Goldstein in 1994 and left hundreds of Martyrs and wounded (29 dead; see note below –Ed.).

[Fatah] Revolutionary Council member and Fatah Spokesman Osama Al-Qawasmi said in a statement he issued today, Monday [May 4, 2020], that Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people are the most despicable in history. He added that in this way it is attacking all of humanity and its cultural heritage, while attempting to break into the mosques and places of worship and turn them into centers of hatred and conflict instead of tolerance and love.

Fatah demanded that the international institutions make their voices heard in light of this criminal aggression.”

Cave of the Patriarchs massacre - Baruch Goldstein, a member of an Israeli far-right movement, opened fire on Muslims praying inside the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, known to Muslims as the "Ibrahimi Mosque," murdering 29 and wounding 125 on Feb. 25, 1994. Following the attack, which was widely condemned by Israeli leaders and Jewish communities abroad, the Israeli government took concrete steps to prevent similar attacks from occurring by dividing the area of worship into Muslim and Jewish sections and designating several extremist movements, including Goldstein’s, as illegal terrorist groups.
