[Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Qadri] Abu Bakr: The occupation is returning the canteen [monetary] transfer meant for the security prisoners’ purchases

Sept. 22, 2020

Qadri Abu Bakr said today, Tuesday [Sept. 22, 2020], that the Israeli occupation authorities have returned (i.e., withheld) the monetary transfer meant for the Palestinian security prisoners’ purchases – the so-called ‘canteen’ – and did not put it into the accounts of the [Israeli] company Dadash that has generally been receiving this transfer on a monthly basis for the past 13 years.

Abu Bakr added: ‘After we transferred the amounts meant for the prisoners’ purchases today, we were told that the transfer amount was received by the criminal prisoners, but the bank was told that the amount regarding the security prisoners was blocked.’

He noted that the amounts that are put in on a monthly basis for each prisoner stand at 400 [Israeli] shekels.”
