Jewish history in Israel is “fables, lies, and fake inventions” claims Abbas’ religious advisor

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Advisor on Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “The [PA] government has declared this year the year of defending the Palestinian narrative, or as Algerian President [Abdelmadjid Tebboune] said, the Palestinian truth. Indeed, we want to defend the true narrative and the true history of Palestine. This history, which has been subjected to great aggression just as Palestine has been subjected to great aggression. There are dangers of falsifying human awareness regarding Palestine by falsifying the history and injecting a number of fables, lies, and fake inventions into this history. The inventions that falsely claim the presence of the so-called ‘ancient Kingdom of Israel’ in Palestinian history or the history ascribed to Palestine, even though there is no truth to this (sic., an abundance of archaeological evidence has conclusively documented the ancient Jewish history in Israel). As part of this history and as part of this narrative, we must defend the ancient and modern history. We are now talking about one of the modern historical periods of Palestine. A period that has had colonialist distortions, which want or have wanted to falsify the Palestinian struggle, ascribed to it.”

Mahmoud Al-Habbash also serves as Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice. In August 2019 PA Chairman Abbas dismissed all his advisors by Presidential decree. It is unclear what their status is today.
