Abbas’ advisor: “Colonialism created Israel… in the heart of the Arab area to serve its colonialist interests”

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Advisor on Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “It is not the Jews who make use of America, the American administrations, and the colonialist interests in America and Europe for the sake of Israel. The opposite is true. Colonialism is what created Israel. Israel is a colonialist reality, and Israel is a colonialist idea that colonialism created in the heart of the Arab area to serve its colonialist interests… When [US president Joe] Biden was a senator (sic., vice president), he said: “If Israel did not exist we would have had to invent Israel, and we would have had to create Israel because it is an interest.”

Mahmoud Al-Habbash also serves as Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice. In August 2019 PA Chairman Abbas dismissed all his advisors by Presidential decree. It is unclear what their status is today.
