PA education to violence: Boy holds AK-47, vows to avenge father's martyrdom

Official Palestinian Authority television interviewed a young boy in his home. For the purposes of the interview, the boy is holding an AK-47 assault rifle and vows to avenge his father's martyrdom death. This interview was broadcast in the very same week that the Palestinian Journalists Union "banned journalists from photographing Palestinian children carrying weapons ... [because] the pictures harm the Palestinian cause" [AP, Aug. 26, 2002]. The media regularly shows pictures of children with weapons.
