Abbas representative: Fatah has the "right to use all means of resistance to achieve its aim"

"Azzam Al-Ahmad, member of the Fatah Central Committee, said during a gathering on the 46th anniversary of the establishment of Fatah, held in the village of Turah, south-west of Jenin, that Fatah is determined to achieve the aims for which it was established (Note: Fatah was established with the explicit goal of destroying Israel, which is stated and still appears in Fatah’s charter.) ....The Jenin branch of the Fatah movement held a gathering... attended by Azzam Al-Ahmad, member of the Fatah Central Committee, representing President Mahmoud Abbas... The ceremony opened with a reading of the first military announcement by the Al-Asifa movement (Fatah unit), noting the commencement of self-sacrifice activity in Palestine [i.e., terror attacks in Israel]. This was followed by some military demonstrations and scouts performances, and some members of the [Fatah] movement blew up models of [Israeli] settlement buildings... Azzam Al-Ahmad said: 'We emphasize today the aims for which the Fatah movement was established...'. He added that Fatah is a mass movement that believed in popular revolution and seized its right to use all means of resistance (i.e., including violence) in order to achieve its aim."
