PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Advisor on Jerusalem Affairs Ahmed Al-Ruweidi: “The village [of Silwan] (a predominantly Arab neighborhood near the Old City of Jerusalem, built above ruins of ancient Jerusalem -Ed.) has constituted a target for the occupation since 1967, on the claim that this is the ‘City of David.’ Therefore, the Israel Antiquities Authority began excavations there to find antiquities immediately after its occupation. From 1967 to this day, nothing has been found proving something connected to the narrative that they are talking about (sic., an abundance of archaeological evidence proving ancient Jewish history in Jerusalem has been found at City of David).”
