Mufti of Jerusalem: "Carry out Ribat" to stop "Israeli attacks and Judaization" of Jerusalem

“The office of the Chief Religious Justice of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice held a press conference yesterday at the governmental information center at the Ministry of Information in Ramallah, in which speakers addressed the Israeli violations against the city of Jerusalem and the sites holy to Islam and to Christianity. In his address, Sheikh Iddais noted that the holy city and the Al-Aqsa Mosque are being subjected to ongoing and systematic Judaization by the leading rabbis in Israel and Jewish religious leaders, who incite to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque in various ways. This is in addition to the policy of Judaization which Israel adopts against the holy city, its inhabitants, and its holy places. He also noted that the Israeli Foreign Ministry is running a campaign to forge and falsify the facts concerning the rights over the holy city […]"

Sheikh Hussein said: ‘Israel is also continuing its excavations beneath the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It recently announced that it had finished clearing a tunnel which starts at Silwan and ends at the Western Wall of the holy city, and there is no need to mention the falsification of facts by means of the renovations which [Israel] is carrying out and the placement of the forged stone, to which UNESCO objected. Also, Israel recently destroyed the Shepherds’ Hotel and the Mufti’s home in Jerusalem. This has ramifications, and it hints to us, as Palestinians, of a religious dimension and meanings.”
