PA official: Israeli settlers may have staged Fogel family murder in Itamar

“Minister of Fence and Settlement Affairs, Maher Ghneim, emphasized that… the occupation (i.e., Israel) is the first to profit from the events in Itamar, whose details have yet to be revealed, and which may have been staged by the settlers and their government with the aim of evading the commitments of the peace process…
Minister Ghneim called upon the Arab and western media not to be drawn after the Israeli propaganda in presenting what happened in the settlement of Itamar as a planned Palestinian act. He demanded the release of all details of the event, which does not serve the Palestinian issue and the peace process, but rather serves the plans of the occupation and its settlers.”

Note: The killing was of Udi and Ruth Fogel and three of their children – Yoav, 11, Elad, 4, and three-month old baby Hadas – who were murdered in the Israeli town of Itamar on March 11, 2011. Two Palestinian residents, Hakim Mazen Awad, 18, and Amjad Mahmad Awad, 19, of the neighboring Arab village of Awarta were arrested and confessed to the killings, providing detailed descriptions of their premeditated terror attack, and expressing no remorse.
