Football tournament named after "the Prince of Shahids [Martyrs]" Abu Jihad
Headline: “Under the auspices of [the Shahid’s] son, Jihad Al-Wazir – the Jerusalemite Al-Ansar [Club] plans to organize the 17th [annual] tournament named after the Prince of Shahids”
“In the corridors of the Al-Ansar Club in Jerusalem, preparations have begun to organize the 17th football tournament named after the Prince of Shahids (Martyrs), Khalil Al-Wazir (Abu Jihad). The club has held [the tournament] annually since 1995. The tournament is expected to be held during the last week of April… under the auspices of Jihad Al-Wazir, son of the late commander Abu Jihad.”
Note: Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) was a founder of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He headed the PLO terror organization’s military wing and planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks, including the most lethal in Israeli history, the hijacking of a bus and killing of 37 civilians, 12 of them children.
