PA rewrites history: No Jewish artifacts found on Temple Mount because “they were not here”

Supreme Shari’ah Judge and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “The one called Israeli “Minister of Public Security” [Gilad Erdan] wants to allow the Jewish extremists to pray at the Al-Aqsa Mosque (i.e., the Temple Mount plaza), on the basis of the claim that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is called “the Temple Mount”. For 50 years or more they have been searching, excavating, looking for an artifact, one piece of evidence that says that they were here at some point – and they have not found it. All of the antiquities that have been found are either Roman, Byzantine, Islamic, or Canaanite. As for them - they have no artifacts, because they did not exist, they were not here, and they have no right here!”

The mention of Israeli Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan refers to comments he made in an interview with Radio 90FM on Aug. 13, 2019: “I think that there is an injustice in the status quo that has existed [on the Temple Mount] since 1967, and that it is necessary to work to change it so that Jews in the future will be able God willing to also pray on the Temple Mount, which is the holiest site for the Jewish people and the third most significant site in Islam.”
