“We are proud of all” the terrorist murderers, says Fatah deputy chairman

Nan Jacques Zilberdik  |

Abbas’ Fatah Deputy Chairman on imprisoned terrorist murderers:

  • They “live in the heart, conscience, and awareness of every Palestinian”

  • “Nothing equals [their] value”

  • Terrorist responsible for murder of 7 is “a national figure of stature”

  • PA’s terror mom is “giant of endurance”

While PA and Fatah Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is keen to present himself as “moderate” and “peace-seeking” to the international community, the statements by the person he appointed to be Fatah Deputy Chairman tell a different story.

Fatah’s no. 2, Mahmoud Al-Aloul glorifies terrorists and murderers of Israelis and promotes them as unequalled in “value.”

Thus Al-Aloul praised all imprisoned Palestinian terrorists as “a large group of beloved people,” noting that Palestinians are “proud of them all.” Al-Aloul made this statement while sitting next to the PA’s terror mom - Um Nasser Abu Hmeid – a Palestinian woman famous and honored by the PA for being the mother of 5 terrorist prisoners who are responsible for at least 10 murders and all serving life sentences. Accordingly, Al-Aloul praised her as “a giant of endurance”:

Fatah Deputy Chairman Mahmoud Al-Aloul: “I’m completely happy that next to me is sitting a giant of endurance, who I don’t at all think there is anyone who exceeds her endurance and stamina: The mother of five prisoners and also the mother of Martyrs (sic., one terrorist son was killed) – of course, Um Nasser Abu Hmeid… We can’t speak about all the prisoners, but we are proud of them all, of dear Marwan [Barghouti], of dear Karim [Younes] (i.e., both terrorist murderers), of Fuad Al-Shubaki (i.e., weapons smuggler), and of the large group of beloved people… They live in the heart, conscience, and awareness of every Palestinian.”

Later, Al-Aloul praised one of Um Hmeid’s imprisoned sons responsible for the murder of 7 Israelis as “a national figure of stature,” stressing the unsurpassed “value” of the imprisoned terrorists:

Al-Aloul noted that prisoner Abu Hmeid is a national figure of stature, and that he is one of five brothers who are dealing with life sentences in the Israeli occupation’s prisons. Al-Aloul emphasized that Fatah’s highlight in its struggle during the current stage will be the cause of the prisoners, and foremost among them prisoner Abu Hmeid. He added that nothing equals the value of the prisoners, and that there is no greater sacrifice than the sacrifice of freedom.”

Palestinian Media Watch has exposed that the mother of the 5 terrorists is continuously honored by the PA as a role model of Palestinian society. PA Chairman Abbas has met with her and the PA has honored herseveral times. PA Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh and PA Minister of Women’s Affairs Amal Hamad have paraded Um Hmeid as an icon for women. In 2011, the PA chose her to launch the PA’s statehood campaign with the UN.

The following is a longer excerpt of Al-Aloul’s statement cited above and additional info on the imprisoned terrorists mentioned:

Headline: “Al-Aloul: We are working in all directions so that prisoner Nasser Abu Hmeid will be released and receive treatment”

“Fatah Movement Deputy Chairman [and Fatah Central Committee member] Mahmoud Al-Aloul said that the recent [health] exams that prisoner Nasser Abu Hmeid (i.e., terrorist, responsible for murder of 7) underwent found that he has a malignant growth in his liver, which necessitates an intensive monitoring of his health, especially because the growth has spread in his body.

He added: ‘[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas gave orders to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to release prisoner Abu Hmeid and treat him, through diplomatic activity that the Palestinian embassies are leading.’ …

Al-Aloul said: ‘At the beginning it was said that prisoner Abu Hmeid had no problems with his liver, but due to the policy of medical neglect (sic., see note below regarding PA libel on medical abuse of Palestinian prisoners) and the long procrastination on everything connected to providing medical treatment, currently we see that complications have begun and he has lost weight…’

Al-Aloul noted that prisoner Abu Hmeid is a national figure of stature, and that he is one of five brothers who are dealing with life sentences in the Israeli occupation’s prisons (see note below on Um Nasser Abu Hmeid and her terrorist sons who are responsible for at least 10 murders -Ed.).

Um Nasser Abu Hmeid (Um Yusuf Abu Hmeid/Latifa Abu Hmeid) – Palestinian woman famous and admired in the PA for being the mother of 5 terrorist prisoners serving life sentences (4 of them serving multiple life sentences), and another whom the PA refers to as a "Martyr." Abu Hmeid is also called Khansa of Palestine, which refers to Al-Khansa from the earliest period of Islam who sent her four sons to battle and rejoiced when they all died as Martyrs. Abu Hmeid was honored by the PA in 2010 and 2015, and was chosen in 2011 to launch the PA’s statehood campaign with the UN. Her terrorist sons: Islam Yusuf Abu Hmeid, murdered 1 on May 24, 2018, and is serving life in prison and an additional 8 months; Muhammad Abu Hmeid, serving 2 life sentences and 30 years for involvement in terror attacks; Nasser Abu Hmeid, serving 7 life sentences and 50 years for murdering 7 Israeli civilians and 12 attempted murders; Nasr Abu Hmeid, serving 5 life sentences for involvement in two terror attacks in which 4 were murdered, and arms dealing; Sharif Abu Hmeid, serving 4 life sentences for involvement in terror attacks in which 4 were murdered; Abd Al-Mun'im Muhammad Yusuf Naji Abu Hmeid, murdered 1 on Feb. 13, 1994, and was killed by Israel on May 31, 1994.

Libel on medical abuse of Palestinian prisoners - The PA claims that Israel abuses Palestinian prisoners through medical neglect, medical experiments, and by intentionally infecting them with diseases. However, the International Red Cross regularly visits these prisoners and has not documented or accused Israel of any of these claims. Likewise, lists of demands occasionally issued by the prisoners during hunger strikes—such as during one in 2011—include no demands relating to these claims. PMW has documented prisoners talking about how they "lack nothing" in the prisons and that "the worst thing about Israeli prison" is riding in a prison vehicle that has no padding on the seat. When PMW contacted the Israeli Ministry of Health in 2007 regarding PA claims of medical experiments on prisoners, the ministry responded: "Clinical testing on prisoners in prison was never approved, never performed, and is most certainly not taking place at present."

Mahmoud Al-Aloul also serves as Fatah Central Committee member.

Marwan Barghouti – Palestinian terrorist and member of the Palestinian Authority parliament who is serving 5 life sentences for orchestrating three shooting attacks in which 5 people were murdered: one attack on the Jerusalem-Maale Adumim road (June 12, 2001) in which Greek Orthodox monk Tsibouktsakis Germanus was murdered by terrorists Ismail Radaida and Yasser Ah'Rabai, another attack at a gas station in Givat Zeev near Jerusalem (Jan. 15, 2002) in which Yoela Hen was murdered by terrorists led by Mohammed Matla, and one shooting and stabbing attack at the Seafood Market restaurant in Tel Aviv (March 5, 2002) in which Eli Dahan, Yosef Habi, and Police Officer Sergeant-Major Salim Barakat, were murdered by terrorist Ibrahim Hasouna. When arrested by Israel in 2002, Barghouti headed the Tanzim (Fatah terror faction). After he was convicted and imprisoned, he was re-elected as a member of the Palestinian Authority parliament. On Dec. 4, 2016, he was elected to Fatah's Central Committee.

Karim Younes - Israeli Arab terrorist who kidnapped and murdered Israeli soldier Avraham Bromberg in 1980 together with his cousin Maher Younes. Younes was originally sentenced to life in prison, but Israeli President Shimon Peres reduced his sentence in 2012. Younes is serving a 40-year sentence. In May 2017 Younes was appointed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to the Fatah Central Committee. Younes was released from prison on Jan. 5, 2023.
