Arab Israeli Parliament Member Mansour Abbas' recognition of Israel as a Jewish state "constitutes a falsification of history at the expense of his people’s causes" according to the PFLP

Headline: “The factions condemned Mansour Abbas’ statements and called on him not to falsify history in order to whitewash his deal with the occupation”

“The forces and factions said that Israeli Parliament Member Mansour Abbas’ statements about the Jewishness of the State [of Israel] and his call to recognize its Jewish nature constitute a falsification of history and an overt attempt by him to whitewash his deal at the expense of his people’s causes (see note below -Ed.)…

The Popular Front [for the Liberation of Palestine] (PFLP) condemned the statements of Israeli Parliament Member Mansour Abbas, who said that ‘the occupation state is Jewish and thus it will remain.’

In a statement yesterday, Thursday [Dec. 23, 2021], the PFLP said that these statements do not represent our people and that what Mansour Abbas claims is basically ratification of ‘the Jewish [Nation-]State’ Law (sic., in his statement Mansour Abbas expressed his opposition to the Nation-State Law) and cover for the plans and actions of the Israeli occupation government and the extremist settlers, who are working day and night to implement this law in all ways in order to expel our people from the 1948 territories (i.e., Israel) and to prevent the right of return. The PFLP also said that the fact that he agrees to ‘the Jewish State’ Law turns him into one of its instruments of performance. It called on the masses of our people in the 1948 territories to boycott Mansour Abbas and denunciate him, since he has taken a position against our people and turned into the voice of the occupation in spreading its false narrative, which targets the Palestinian national narrative and identity…

The Democratic Front [for the Liberation of Palestine] (DFLP) called on Israeli Parliament Member and Chairman of the Joint [Arab] List [political party] (the Southern Faction of the Islamic [Movement in Israel]) [parentheses in source] Mansour Abbas to stop falsifying history in order to justify his embarrassing behavior and policy that have become free service for the policy of racial discrimination and ethnic cleansing of the government of [Israeli Prime Minister Naftali] Bennett.”

At the Globes Israel Business Conference on Dec. 21, 2021, Israeli Arab Parliament Member Mansour Abbas said: "The State of Israel was born as a Jewish state. This is the people’s decision, and the question is not what the identity of the state is – it was born like this and thus it will remain… I protested the [Jewish] Nation-State Law and I do not want to deceive anyone. The question is what the status of the Arab citizen in the Jewish State of Israel is. That is the question.”

Jewish Nation-State Law – law passed by the Israeli Parliament on July 19, 2018, which codifies in Israel's Basic Law that Israel is the home of the Jewish nation with Jerusalem its capital, and the Hebrew calendar its official calendar. It establishes Hebrew as the sole official language and grants Arabic a special status, and it recognizes Jewish and Israeli holidays, memorial days, and the Jewish Sabbath as national holidays and days of rest - while guaranteeing the right of all Israeli citizens and residents to celebrate their holidays and days of rest. The law, which passed with 62 in favor, 55 against, and 2 abstentions, has sparked controversy within Israeli society.
