Official PA spokesman warns "Israel is playing with fire" and "every day Israeli PM Bennett repeats that he is not ready for peace… causing the region to remain in a state of tension and boiling"

Headline: “In response to Bennett’s statements: Abu Rudeina emphasizes that it is necessary to open the American consulate in East Jerusalem, because this is an official American commitment”

“Official [PA] Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina said that the American consulate needs to be opened in East Jerusalem, with or without the agreement of Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

In statements to [Fatah-run] Awdah TV, Abu Rudeina said that the statements of Bennett, who said two days ago [Dec. 27, 2021] that there is no place for an American consulate that is meant for the Palestinians in Jerusalem, are ‘unacceptable.’ …

Abu Rudeina said: ‘Every day Bennett repeats that he is not ready for peace, and he does not want to seek security and stability. This kind of decision will cause the region to remain in a state of tension and boiling.’

The presidential spokesman emphasized that Jerusalem is not a normal city, as it is the capital of the State of Palestine, and it and its lands must not be harmed. He added that it is an Arab Palestinian city, and emphasized that the Palestinian position is completely clear: Israel must understand that peace will not be achieved without Jerusalem, and no one will be allowed to make peace without Jerusalem…

He also explained that Israel is playing with fire, and that it will not find security or stability as long as it is not upholding the international institutions’ resolutions.

Nabil Abu Rudeina also serves as PA Minister of Information, Fatah Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Ideology, and Fatah Central Committee member.
