Palestinian terrorists serving life sentences are “giants,” and "heroes of peace" according to PA

Excerpt of an op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA daily

Headline: “Freedom for the prisoners on [Palestinian] Prisoner’s Day”

“In the 23 prisons and interrogation and detention centers that the Israeli enemy has established, there are currently 4,500 national fighters

We must not forget that among the pioneers of freedom (i.e., the prisoners) are men who have been imprisoned longer than the 27 years of imprisonment of late South African fighter Nelson Mandela, and who are approaching four decades in prison. Among the heroes of peace (i.e., the prisoners) are 25 who were arrested before the signing of the [1993] Oslo Accords, who have been imprisoned for more than 28 years, and 62 prisoners who have been imprisoned for more than 20 years. There are 543 giants who are serving life sentences (99 years according to the arbitrary Zionist military laws) [parentheses in source], including general of freedom Abdallah Barghouti (i.e., terrorist, involved in murder of 67), who was sentenced to 67 life sentences.”

Nelson Mandela - South African revolutionary against apartheid who spent 27 years in prison for organizing acts of sabotage against the apartheid government. After an international campaign for his release, Mandela was freed in 1990. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and became South Africa's first black president a year later.
