Fatah: "All of Palestine is ours… established on our natural and historical right"

Official PA TV program Topic of the Day, on a Fatah conference on political and social thought held on Dec. 18, 2021

Fatah Academy of Thought President Bakr Abu Bakr: “We need to have social thought, at least there is a [Palestinian] Authority that is the start of a state, which tomorrow we will determine there the method of the social, economic, and political form of rule. We need to have it, like we have an outlook regarding the political form of the state, which is a democratic state where everyone is, and this is our original idea that still exists until now and brother [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas has expressed it time after time. We still hold onto the same idea, [namely that] all of Palestine is ours, and all of Palestine in the end needs to have a democratic state in it for the Christians, Muslims, and Jews on an equal basis. This general idea still exists. The prelude to a state according to the logic that we call political realism is the independence of Palestine that is established on [the basis of] the natural and historical right according to the [Palestinian] declaration of independence (see note below -Ed.).”

Bakr Abu Bakr also serves as Fatah Revolutionary Council member.

Palestinian declaration of independence - On Nov. 15, 1988, before the Palestine National Council (PNC), the Palestinian parliament in exile in Algeria, Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Yasser Arafat declared the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. Although the borders were not specified in the declaration, it recognized the UN partition plan of 1947, which called for the creation of a Jewish state and an Arab state in the former British Mandate for Palestine.
