The Negev is part of "occupied Palestine", claims PA

Excerpt of a column by Yahya Rabah, regular columnist for the official PA daily

Headline: “The Palestinian people”

“I send a blessing of [national] affiliation and pride to the Negev (i.e., in southern Israel), the Palestinian Negev, which remains Palestinian… ever since commander Amr ibn Al-As (i.e., 7th century Muslim military leader) passed through it on his way to [conquer] Egypt…

A few days ago, the Palestinian Negev dealt Israel a decisive blow (refers to violent Bedouin Arab riots in response to the Jewish National Fund planting trees in the Negev for the Jewish holiday of Tu B’Shevat -Ed.)…

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett went to Sa’wat Al-Atrash in the Negev to burn the land and attempt to take control of it (sic.). Wretched Bennett met with what can be described as a rebellion of the Negev, a mass eruption, and a comprehensive confrontation, which neither Bennett nor his government imagined could take place. This was due to them relying on sick delusions that the occupying Israelis always fall victim to: the delusion that the Palestinian residents of the Negev in the far south of occupied Palestine are far from the center of things.”
