“[PA] Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh condemned the Israeli blows to the sanctity of the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs) in Hebron, which is expressed by changing the mosque’s characteristics by establishing an external elevator that will take control of additional territories of Islamic waqf land (i.e., an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law; refers to renovation work to make the site accessible for the disabled). He added that this constitutes… a blow to the freedom of worship inside of it because it is a mosque that belongs to the Muslims only, and no one other than them has the right to compete with them for it.”
