"Israel is not a giant, you’re a dwarf!" - Fatah cartoon mocks UAE for normalizing relations with Israel
Cartoon tweeted from the official Fatah Twitter account
The cartoon shows a Palestinian woman with a keffiyeh (Arab headdress) on her head, earrings in the shape of the PA map of “Palestine” that presents all of Israel as “Palestine” together with the PA areas, and the Dome of the Rock on her shirt. She is holding the PA map of “Palestine” that is in the colors of the Palestinian flag and has “Palestine” written on it. The woman is holding her hand out to measure the height of a depiction of UAE Deputy Chief of Police and General Security Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, who is portrayed as a dwarf with hooves instead of feet.
Tamim is holding up his finger and saying: “Israel is a giant state,” to which the woman is responding: “It is not a giant, you’re a dwarf.”
The cartoon refers to a tweet from Tamim’s Twitter account on Aug. 23, 2020, in which he wrote: “Israel is a giant state, and its existence in the Middle East is natural.” The tweet comes on the background of the Israel-UAE peace agreement – see note below.
