“Amina went with her mother to Amman [Jordan] and spent a few days with her relatives, during which she met many children. She told them stories about demonstrations held against the enemies in the streets of Jerusalem and in the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas.
Amina left Amman holding a bride [doll], which one of her relatives had bought for her. When the car approached the Jordan River [Border] Crossing, her mother started checking her luggage and gifts and asked Amina to keep an eye on her doll so it would not get lost.
The mother approached an Israeli soldier who was inspecting the arrivals. The soldier smiled at Amina and then gave her a candy. Amina hesitated and took it when she saw her mother standing in silence.
The soldier started inspecting the luggage and gifts and then reached for the doll and pulled it out of Amina’s hands. The mother said: ‘It’s the girl’s doll, leave it for her.’
While shaking the doll, the soldier said: ‘It’s heavy. What did you hide in it?’
Amina reached out to take the doll back but the soldier moved it away from her and said: ‘You hide weapons and explosives everywhere. I have to inspect it thoroughly.’
The soldier held the doll tightly with both hands and severed its head from its body. Amina screamed but the soldier continued to tear out its stomach, searching for explosives. When he did not find anything, he threw it on the ground.
Amina bent down and started gathering the parts of her torn doll. Then she noticed the candy in her hand, looked the soldier in the face and threw the candy underfoot. She went over to her mother and walked away.”
