The Cave of the Patriarchs "is purely Islamic and a waqf, an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law" falsely claims PA

Headline: “The [PA] Ministry of Religious Affairs: The Ibrahimi Mosque is a purely Islamic mosque and waqf property of the Muslims alone”

“In a statement yesterday, Friday [Feb. 25, 2022], for the 28th anniversary of the Ibrahimi Mosque massacre (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs; see note below), the [PA] Ministry of Religious Affairs said that the mosque is a purely Islamic mosque and waqf (i.e., an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law; see note below) property of the Muslims alone, and no decision will change this eternal description and thus it will remain.”

Cave of the Patriarchs massacre - Baruch Goldstein, a member of an Israeli far-right movement, opened fire on Muslims praying inside the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, known to Muslims as the "Ibrahimi Mosque," murdering 29 and wounding 125 on Feb. 25, 1994. Following the attack, which was widely condemned by Israeli leaders and Jewish communities abroad, the Israeli government took concrete steps to prevent similar attacks from occurring by dividing the area of worship into Muslim and Jewish sections and designating several extremist movements, including Goldstein’s, as illegal terrorist groups.

A waqf is an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law. Palestinians define all of Israel as waqf, and thereby Israel exists on Islamic holy land. Palestinian leaders have explained that under Islamic law Muslims are commanded to free the waqf from non-Muslims.
