"Palestine is more precious than all of us, and even more precious than our children"

Headline: “He would always tell me: Intisar, I am a potential Martyr”

“[Khalil] Al-Wazir ‘Abu Jihad’ (i.e., terrorist, responsible for the murder of 125 people) is an extraordinary leader; [the heart of] time and place beats on his behalf, and his soul beats rapidly, certain among the words written by his companion on the path paved with dangers, female fighter [Chairwoman of the PLO Families of the Martyrs and Wounded Institution] Intisar Al-Wazir, in her book 'Companion for Life.’

In Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, and more precisely at the BIEL (Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center) Book Fair, a large crowd of members of the Palestinian people welcomed ‘Um Jihad’ [Al-Wazir], who arrived from the homeland to sign her book ‘Companion for Life.’ …

‘Um Jihad’ Al-Wazir turned to those present… and said: ‘I express my joy to be with you on this day, on which we celebrate the launch of a book dealing with the history of the Palestinian revolution from a living witness. There was a day on which I could have become a Martyr, and more precisely on the day of the assassination of Martyr “Abu Jihad,” but fate gave me an opportunity to live in order… to document the despicable crime that the invaders committed against the pure body of “Abu Jihad” – 75 bullets that hit him one after the other in order to assassinate him. But he always would tell me: “Intisar, I am a potential Martyr, prisoner, or wounded. What do you want from me? Enough, I don’t want to push you into this difficult life.”’

She continued: ‘But the love of the homeland… (ellipsis in source -Ed.) what can we do? Palestine is more precious than all of us, more precious than our feelings, and even more than our children, because we have dedicated our lives for the sake of the homeland.’”
