Hamas condemns PA's decision to postpone elections, calling it “a turn away from reconciliation”

“In a statement in the early morning hours today, Friday [April 30, 2021], the Hamas Movement held the Fatah Movement and the [Palestinian] Authority presidency fully responsible for the decision to postpone the [PA] elections and its consequences.

Hamas expressed its great sorrow over the decision by Fatah and the PA represented by its [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas to postpone the Palestinian elections, which according to the statement constitutes a turn away from the path of national partnership, understandings, and agreements, and [it said that] the entire national situation and the popular and national consensus must not be stipulated according to the agenda of a specific faction.”
