“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas held the Israeli occupation government fully responsible for the dangerous developments and the criminal attacks that are taking place in the holy city [of Jerusalem] and for their consequences (refers to ongoing violent Arab riots -Ed.).

In a speech on his behalf yesterday, Friday [May 7, 2021], the president saluted our mighty people in Jerusalem and everywhere for their brave stand in defending Jerusalem, our eternal capital, with all its neighborhoods, and for their defense of our Islamic and Christian holy sites and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Sheikh Jarrah [neighborhood] in particular (refers to planned eviction of Arabs illegally living in properties owned by Jews who were expelled in the 1948 Israeli War of Independence -Ed.).

The president emphasized that the settlers’ violence and terror will only increase our adherence to our legal rights to end the occupation, achieve freedom and independence, and establish a fully sovereign independent Palestinian state whose eternal capital is Jerusalem."
