“Young Ahmed Hijazi fell victim to a new crime last Monday [Feb. 1, 2021] in the [Israeli Arab] town of Tamra in the Galilee, when he was shot by the racist occupation police despite having done no wrong (Hijazi was accidentally shot by police after entering the site of an active shootout between police and several criminals armed with assault rifles -Ed.). It excused [the shooting as] a response to an armed man who shot at one of the houses and at the police, even though the Martyr was not connected to the shooting. Despite this he was shot and killed. This exposes how the Israeli security forces – and the police in particular – are exploiting the high crime rate among the [Palestinian] people in the Galilee, the Triangle (i.e., a concentration of Israeli-Arab towns and villages in northern Israel), the Negev, and the mixed coastal cities. These forces are standing behind [the crime] and egging it on so they will be able to do as they please in the Palestinian cities and towns, turn Palestinian society into a crime swamp, and cover up the crimes of their agents – the thugs, the villains, and those addicted to cannabis.
The following day, after Martyr Hijazi’s funeral, young Ahmed Dhiab was seriously wounded in his left eye by gas grenades and rubber bullets fired by the racism colonialist police, who were dispersing protesters against the murder of Ahmed Hijazi. This was despite the fact that Ahmed Dhiab was on his way to his car to return home. The second crime proves the colonialist and racist security forces’ insistence on expanding and deepening the acts of murdering young Palestinians, without any legal or moral inhibitions…
Corrupt [Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu’s apology yesterday, Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, and his announcement on establishing a force called ‘Sword’ led by Zionist [former Israeli Prison Service Head Aharon] Franco [to stop violence in the Israeli Arab society], are nothing but the following:
- A deception of the Palestinian public with a fake apology.
- An attempt to obtain Palestinian votes in the coming elections.
- An attempt to expand the security forces’ scope of influence in the Palestinian sector, in order to deepen the process of strife in it.
- An exploitation of the crime to preserve and strengthen the role of the rebellious gangs.

The murders that are being committed in cold blood in the Galilee, the Triangle, the Negev, the mixed cities, the Palestinian territories that were occupied in 1967, and the diaspora prove that the Palestinians are in the same situation. This is because the Zionist enemy stands behind the murders and the severe violations of the elementary standards of human rights in all the Palestinian population centers. This obligates all the Palestinians to rise up and escalate the confrontation with it on the legal, political, and diplomatic level through knowledge, national cultural, and popular resistance (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror).”
The terms "peaceful uprising/resistance,” and “popular uprising/resistance" are used by PA leaders at times to refer to peaceful protest and at times to refer to deadly terror attacks and terror waves. For example, Mahmoud Abbas defined as “peaceful popular” the murderous terror during the 2015-2016 terror wave (“The Knife Intifada”), in which 40 people were killed (36 Israelis, 1 Palestinian, 2 Americans and 1 Eritrean) and hundreds wounded in stabbings, shootings, and car ramming attacks.
