"The root of terror is Zionism" says PA Daily, blaming Israel for Arab on Arab terror attacks in Egypt

Headline: “Egypt is bigger than terror”

Excerpt of an op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA daily

“Sixty-nine years ago the barbaric hand of Zionist terror killed residents of the Palestinian village Deir Yassin…

On the same date 69 years later, the hand of Takfiri terror (i.e., A Muslim who accuses other Muslims of heresy) is again barbarically tearing to pieces the bodies of members of the Egyptian Arab people in Tanta and Alexandria. As a result, at least 43 victims fell and 120 Christian civilians were wounded on Palm Sunday, which was yesterday [April 9, 2017] (see note below –Ed.) – as if the destructive hand of terror seeks to prove to the whole world… that its barbarity is emerging from the womb of the Zionist movement and those standing behind it.This is particularly so in light of the fact that the Takfir organizations (i.e., the act of accusing other Muslims of heresy) grew and were born from the womb of the Muslim Brotherhood movement, an ally of the colonialist West and the partner of the State of Israel… (sic.)

ISIS taking responsibility for the two terror attacks… only reflects the level of integration between the supporting pillars of worldwide terror…

It is possible that the connection between the two terror attacks and the Deir Yassin massacre – even if [they took place] 69 years later – contains a clear message to all who are intelligent, so that they will understand that the root of terror is the Zionist colonialism and terror. Therefore, the leaders and political and cultural elites must be alert to the dangers posed to the peoples of the Arab nation and its countries - and particularly Egypt - by the Israeli ethnic cleansing state, [they must] not rely on it, and [must] oppose normalization with it until the independent Palestinian state whose capital is East Jerusalem is established within the June 4, 1967 borders, and until the refugees' right of return is ensured on the basis of international [UN] Resolution 194.”

Deir Yassin - On April 9, 1948, Jewish fighters from the Irgun and Lehi military groups, part of the forces opening the blockaded road to Jerusalem, attacked the Arab village of Deir Yassin. When the battle was over, the village had fallen and in addition to the Arab fighters killed, 107 civilians were also killed. Narratives differ as to whether the civilians were killed in the crossfires or were intentionally murdered by the Irgun and Lehi fighters.

On Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017, two bombings took place north of Cairo at two separate Coptic Christian churches - St. George Church in Tanta, and Saint Mark’s Cathedral in Alexandria. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks, in which dozens were murdered and over 100 were wounded.

UN Resolution 194 (Chapter 11, Dec. 11, 1948) states that "refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbors should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return." Palestinian leaders argue this means that all Arabs who left Israel during the war (hundreds of thousands) and their descendants (a few million) have a "right of return" to Israel. Israel argues that the resolution only calls for a limited return and only under certain conditions, especially focusing on the words "wishing to return... and live at peace with their neighbors."
