Fatah Deputy Chairman praises the "increase and expansion in participation" of "vigorous popular resistance" – a term that refers to the use of violence and terror

Headline: “Fatah held a memorial ceremony on the 40th day since the passing of national leader Jamal Muhaisen”

“The Fatah Movement, under the auspices of [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas, held a memorial ceremony for great national leader, Fatah Central Committee member, and [Fatah] Commissioner of Mobilization and Organization in the northern districts (i.e., the West Bank) Jamal Muhaisen…

Fatah Deputy Chairman [and Fatah Central Committee member] Mahmoud Al-Aloul said in a speech on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas:… ‘On the path of the late Jamal Muhaisen and the path of the Martyrs, we see the generations who have come into being from Fatah and the [Fatah] Shabiba [Youth Movement] making efforts for there to be vigorous popular resistance (i.e., term used by Palestinians, which also refers to the use of violence and terror) every day, which the participation in it increases and expands.’”

Jamal Muhaisen also serves as PLO Central Council member.

The terms "peaceful uprising/resistance,” and “popular uprising/resistance" are used by PA leaders at times to refer to peaceful protest and at times to refer to deadly terror attacks and terror waves. For example, ‎Mahmoud Abbas defined as “peaceful popular” the murderous terror during the 2015-2016 ‎terror wave (“The Knife Intifada”), in which 40 people were killed (36 Israelis, 1 Palestinian, 2 Americans and 1 Eritrean) and hundreds wounded in stabbings, shootings, and car ramming attacks. Abbas said: "We want peaceful popular uprising, and that’s what this is." https://palwatch.org/page/9276
