PA religious council falsely and dramatically claims that Israeli archaeological excavations "will destabilize and collapse" the Al-Aqsa Mosque
“The Palestinian Supreme Fatwa Council condemned the new excavations at the Al-Buraq Plaza (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount plaza), which revealed a plan to build a large-scale Judaization structure on a territory of 1,000 square meters so that the settlers will hold their Talmudic (i.e., Jewish) rituals there (apparently refers to recently discovered public building from roughly 2,000 years ago in the Western Wall Tunnels -Ed.).
The council said that this project is one of the most dangerous Israeli projects that will be carried out under the foundations of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and it will lead to their destabilization and its collapse, Heaven forbid.
The council warned against the impact of the excavations on the western wall and part of the southern wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and on the rest of the western plazas, in light of the ongoing excavations in the area that will clearly reach underneath the mosque and target the Islamic antiquities from the Ottoman period and the Mamluk period, changing the historical reality of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and imposing new facts, and they will even lead to its destruction.”
