Celebrating the anniversary of its murder of Israeli Minister, PFLP vows to continue terror – "we will continue the resistance, and will not be dissuaded"

Headline: “The Popular Front [for the Liberation of Palestine]: The October 17 operation was a blow to the occupation system, we will continue the resistance”

“Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Political Bureau member Jamil Mazhar said that resistance is a strategic choice from the PFLP’s perspective, and that it is impossible to compromise on this in any way. He added that the PFLP will continue this regardless of how great the sacrifices may be, because this is the only path to liberation and return.

Regarding the 20th anniversary of the quality operation to assassinate Israeli Minister [of Tourism] Rehavam Ze’evi, which the PFLP carried out… Mazhar said: ‘The October 17 operation – the killing of Ze’evi – was a blow to the occupation system, as was the extraordinary activity of the resistance in the Gaza Strip during the Sword of Jerusalem battle (i.e., Fatah/Hamas riot and rocket war 2021; see note below), in which the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades (i.e., PFLP’s military wing) participated.’ …

He emphasized: ‘We will continue the resistance, and will not be dissuaded by the incessant pursuit that the occupation is carrying out in the West Bank because it is aware of the influence and presence that the PFLP has there publicly and militarily. The best example of this was the Ein Bubin operation (i.e., the murder of Rina Shnerb; see note below).’

Mazhar noted: ‘Despite the pursuit and the great sacrifices, the PFLP will remain firm and strong and will not withdraw from resistance until the expulsion [of the occupation] from the entire homeland, from Rafah to Rosh HaNikra (i.e., an Israeli town on the northern border with Lebanon).’”

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) - a socialist Palestinian terror organization and one of the largest factions in the PLO. Founded by George Habash in 1967, PFLP has planned and carried out numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians since its founding and throughout the PA terror campaign (the second Intifada, 2000-2005). One of its most high profile attacks was the murder of Israeli Minister of Tourism Rehavam Ze'evi on Oct. 17, 2001. PFLP has been designated as a terror organization by several states including the US, Japan, Canada, Australia, and the EU.Terrorist prisoner Ahmad Sa’adat has served as PFLP’s secretary-general since 2001; he is serving a 30-year sentence in an Israeli prison for heading the PFLP.

Fatah/Hamas Riot and Rocket War 2021 – On April 30, 2021, facing certain electoral defeat, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas cancelled the first PA elections scheduled in 15 years. Hamas, which expected to win the elections, denounced it as a “coup.” In need of a conflict to divert public discontent, Abbas artificially generated a crisis over Jerusalem. His Fatah party called for "raising the level of confrontation,” and Abbas' spokesman told Palestinians "the battle of all battles is here.” Jerusalem Arabs responded by attacking Jews with rocks and Molotov cocktails. Hamas, Abbas' political rival, could not allow Abbas to lead the battle, so on May 10, 2021, Hamas launched rocket barrages targeting Israeli population centers including Jerusalem. Over the next 11 days, Hamas and Islamic Jihad fired over 4,300 rockets into southern and central Israel from the Gaza Strip, killing 9 Israelis and 3 foreign nationals, and wounding hundreds. In response, Israel launched Operation Guardian of the Walls to target Hamas terror leaders and terror infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. Already in mid-April, a planned eviction of some Palestinian families illegally living in Jewish-owned buildings in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem had led to clashes between Palestinian residents and Israeli police. This dispute provided Palestinians with a pretext for violent rioting. Adding to the crisis, Israeli Arabs started rioting throughout Israel, especially in cities with a mixed Jewish and Arab population. Two Jews were murdered and many were wounded. According to Walla, an independent Israeli news site, 10 synagogues were wholly or partly burned down; fires were set in 112 Jewish homes and 1 Arab home mistaken for a Jewish home; 386 Jewish homes were plundered and 673 were damaged; 849 cars were set ablaze; and there were 5,018 rock-throwing attacks. In response, Jews started attacking Arabs and their properties as well, but on a much smaller scale. No mosques were burned; 13 Arab homes were damaged; 13 Arab-owned cars were burned; and there were 41 rock-throwing attacks by Jews. [Walla, May 16, 2021] The fighting between Israel and Hamas ended with a ceasefire on May 21, 2021.

Three terrorists who committed the attack were caught on Aug. 26, 2019.
