PA Daily praises terrorist murderer as a “heroic prisoner” while glossing over his crimes

Headline: “Rushdi Abu Mukh: Returning to a dream that was forcibly postponed for 35 years”

“Rushdi [Abu Mukh] (i.e., terrorist, involved in the murder of 1 person) completed building and preparing his home at a relatively young age – just 23 years old. He instructed his mother to begin searching for a life partner for him in order to get married in the summer of 1986. That was his plan.

Rushdi brought the most magnificent furniture and items to his new home, and left the bedroom empty so that he would choose it in the summer together with his life partner…

Rushdi’s plans dissipated and were postponed for 35 years. The bride did not enter the new home in the summer, and the mother, who waited for her appointment at the tailor, cancelled the appointment. Rushdi returned to his home only after three and a half decades.

On March 23, 1986, an Israeli military force raided the smithy he owned in his village, Baqa Al-Gharbiya, which is inside the 1948 territories (i.e., Israel). He was handcuffed and made to disappear for a number of months in which he was in detention cells, and during which he underwent severe interrogation, at the end of which he was sentenced to 35 years of imprisonment (sic., he was sentenced to life until his sentence was reduced in 2012)…

His brother relates: ‘We opened his home, which had not been opened since it was prepared [for residence] in the end of 1985, mere months ago. We replaced all the equipment and repainted the walls, as no one had lived or entered there for the entire period. It remained in the same condition and waited for the bride and groom.’

Rushdi will complete what he planned 35 years ago. He hopes to find a life partner and get married in the summer, as he wanted to get married in the summer of 1986.”

The cell - which included Abu Mukh's brother Ibrahim Abu Mukh, Walid Daqqa, and Ibrahim Bayadseh - was apprehended in 1986 and its members were sentenced to life, but Israeli President Shimon Peres reduced their sentences in 2012 to terms of 35 to 45 years. Abu Mukh was released on April 5, 2021, at the end of his reduced 35-year sentence.
