Israel "took control" of the "Palestinian villages in the Galilee" to set up "Jewish settlements" in their place, according to PA Daily

Headline: “46 years since eternal Land Day”

“Yesterday, March 30 [2022], our people marked 46 years since Land Day (see note below -Ed.)…

It should be noted that the spark that caused the masses to set out on Land Day was the Israeli authorities taking control of approximately 21,000 dunams (21 square kilometers -Ed.) of the land of a number of Palestinian (sic., Israeli Arab) villages in the Galilee… in order to establish additional settlements as part of the plan to Judaize the Galilee and empty it of its Arab residents.”

Land Day – annual commemoration of the general strike and demonstrations organized by Israeli Arab residents of the Galilee on March 30, 1976 to protest the Israeli government's decision to expropriate land in the Galilee for security and building purposes, which it later implemented. During the protests, demonstrators burnt tires, blocked roads, and threw rocks and firebombs. Six demonstrators were shot and killed by the Israeli army and police. Israeli Arabs and Palestinians consider Land Day a national day.
