Director of the Al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Omar Al-Kiswani: “The [Al-Aqsa] Mosque is divided into passageways… The central passageway is the largest, where the wall of the direction of prayer (i.e., the southern wall facing the direction of Mecca) and the place where the Imam who leads the worshippers stands are located, and next to it is the Saladin Al-Ayyubi pulpit, which was burned by one of the extremist Jews who burned nearly a third of the Al-Aqsa Mosque (sic., Michael Rohan who set fire to the mosque in 1969 was an Australian Christian with a mental health disorder), and its renovation took more than 20 years.”
