PA MP urges Abbas to "break the rules" and "ignite an intifada"
Excerpt of an op-ed by PA Parliament Member and former Director of PLO Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake
Headline: “Break the rules so that I will see you in the future”
“Sir [PA President Mahmoud Abbas], you have condemned and denounced, and you have succeeded in obtaining hundreds of international decisions that do justice for the rights of your Palestinian people. You have imposed a blockade on your enemies diplomatically, morally, and legally, to the point that they accused you of diplomatic terror…
They have cut off the hand of justice and the international institutions. They have cut off your hand that is extended for a comprehensive and fair peace. Sir, the time has come for you to break the rules.
Break the rules now, after they have attempted to push you into isolated areas and cantons and into their economic conferences on the topic of welfare and peace, in exchange for you relinquishing your Martyrs, your prisoners, and your right to freedom. The Israeli occupiers have behaved with bullying and piracy, and the Israeli mafia has behaved wildly, out of a belief that when you starve you will become a humiliated slave leaning on their table and their poisoned deals.
Break the rules and fill your enemies’ eyes with your people’s burning flames.
Break the rules now, because you have rejected give-and-take deals… and said: I will die of starvation and not bend the knee. You have taken action in all directions, but the enemies, sir, the enemies have increased, and currently they have new faces: The treacherous ones carrying out normalization in the UAE and other states (refers to Israel-UAE peace agreement; see note below –Ed.), and those who are incapable of defending a lauded people that is resisting the cruelest colonialism in history…
Declare a change in terms of ideas, mentality, and viewpoint, and flip the table over. Set out against them in their territory, your image disturbs them. Those who prevent my people from sleeping will not sleep, those who deny my people light will have no light, those who conspire against Jerusalem, the right to self-determination, and the [Palestinian refugees’] right of return will have no rest. Set out against them and break the rules over their heads.Remind them that once we started from nothing and became a lance, became numerous, and became a knife in the throats of the colonialists, defeatists, and enemies of the [Palestinian] cause. Remind them that when they thought we were dust, this dust became a storm.
Sir, break the rules so that I will see you in the future. Set out against them from the land, from the sea, from the oil wells, and from the desert, from the soil, and from the sky, so that they will understand… that a people that initiated intifadas in similar and even worse conditions is capable of igniting a third and a tenth intifada.”
