In a bid to erase its existence, PA TV renames Israel "the 1948 lands"

Official PA TV News special news flash marking Palestinian Land Day.

 

Official PA TV newsreader: “In 1976, we remind our dear viewers, the Israeli authorities expropriated thousands of dunams of Palestinian lands, especially in the Galilee region. On that day, Land Day, as a result of this Israeli plan, the Arab public in the 1948 lands (i.e. Israel) decided to proclaima general strike, thereby challenging the Israeli authorities –  for the first time since the occupation in 1948.”

 

 

Land Day – annual commemoration of the general strike and demonstrations organized by Israeli Arab residents of the Galilee on March 30, 1976 to protest the Israeli government's decision to expropriate land in the Galilee for security and building purposes, which it later implemented. During the protests, demonstrators burnt tires, blocked roads, and threw rocks and firebombs. Six demonstrators were shot and killed by the Israeli army and police. Israeli Arabs and Palestinians consider Land Day a national day.
