According to Palestine TV Jews have "no proof of the historical rights they claim to have" over Jerusalem

Sheikh Ikrima Sabri: "I say that the Western Wall, the Western Wall plaza, and the Mughrabi neighborhood – this whole area is an Islamic Waqf (i.e., a perpetually inviolate Islamic trust, ed.). It follows, then, that any trespassing violating this area does not invalidate the Waqf status of this Waqf property, and no statute of limitations is applicable here. Therefore, the Waqf [property] remains Waqf [forever], and the Muslims' right [to this area] remains valid until the Resurrection of the Dead…

Any trespassing that violates an Islamic Waqf constitutes trespassing that violates the Al-Aqsa [Mosque], and trespassing that violates Muslims, because this Waqf is a right of the Muslims…

Jews have no antiquities in this area. So what does the occupation do? It goes to great lengths to come up with some synagogue of its own and buildings associated with it, in order to prove the Jewish character of the area. This is in the realm of a historic forgery – changing landmarks of the area – and is a violation of international law that explicitly states that the status quo of areas under occupation [must be maintained]. Building new synagogues for the Jews is evidence that the Jews had no synagogues here in the past. The significance of this is that [it demonstrates that] there is no proof of the historical rights they claim to have, and the purpose of [building] synagogues is to lay siege to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to impose a Jewish character on the area."
