PA accuses Israel of attempting to "Judaize the Palestinian education, and Israelize the PA curricula"

“The [PA] Ministry of Education discussed the Israeli incitement against the Palestinian [PA] curricula and the consequences of the attack targeting the education sector in holy Jerusalem with a number of ambassadors, consuls, and representatives of the European Union (EU) and the international organizations.

[PA] Minister of Education Marwan Awratani said during the meeting, which was held in Ramallah, that the ministry – including the Palestinian curricula – are an absolutely sovereign matter due to their connection to the national identity, honor, and narrative and their deep influence on Palestine’s future.

He added that Palestinian society is the one that has full ownership over developing the curricula and schoolbooks, and our efforts in this context stem from our national and moral obligation to provide our children with a quality and comprehensive education. He added that there will be no acceding to any pressure, regardless of its source…

During the meeting, the ministry discussed the education in Jerusalem and the dangers surrounding it that stem from the occupation’s attack against it with all of its components – whether they are the schools of the [Palestinian] Waqf or UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) or the private schools – in order to Judaize the education, Israelize the curricula, and erase all of the characteristics of the national narrative.”
