PFLP berates PA for arresting justice lawyer and free speech activists

Headline: “The Popular Front [for the Liberation of Palestine]: We call on the PA to release those arrested for expressing an opinion and to stop this useless path”

“The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) condemned the arrest of Executive Director of the Lawyers for Justice group lawyer Muhannad Karajeh and three activists by the Palestinian [PA] Security Forces this morning [July 4, 2021] in front of the Ramallah Court. [The prisoners were demonstrating] in protest over the arrest of activists by the PA. It called to release them immediately and to stop this useless and damaging path.

In a press release that reached [the independent Palestinian news agency] Ma’an, the PFLP said that the PA’s targeting of lawyers after a long series of assaults against opposition members and activists, and the expansion of the arrests against them for expressing opinions… are a new escalation by the PA and its Security Forces…

It emphasized that the national and popular pressure must be increased on the PA to force it to stop its violations and to respect freedom of opinion and expression and the right to demonstrate.”
