PA plants trees in Israeli area C to prevent Israel annexing the land
Official PA TV News
Official PA TV newsreader: “Members of women’s committees for guidance, instruction, and aid in a number of local authorities in the Ramallah and El-Bireh district organized an initiative to plant trees in the Wadi Zeitoun area that is defined as Area C (i.e., areas of the West Bank under full Israeli administration according to the Oslo Accords), in the territories of the village of Ein Siniya. The goal of this initiative, which the [PA] Ministry of Women’s Affairs formulated together with the [PA] Ministry of Local Government and the local authorities, is to protect the lands in Area C from the theft of the occupation and its settlers, who are putting their hands on them by force.”
Activist: “We are planting in Area C, in the lands of Area C. The reasoning behind this is that at the first stage we will create a boundary of a grove of trees; the second stage, after a month, is planting fruit trees on these lands, and the third stage is planting olive trees. We are attempting, Allah willing, to protect [the lands] from annexation. This is because there was an initiative in one of the villages, in whose framework after they planted trees- they turned Area C into agricultural [lands], this protected them from annexation, and the [separation] wall was unable to pass through these lands and annex them.”
