Prisoners’ wives criticize Hamas for not including their husbands in Shalit deal
Headline: "In letter she signed on behalf of wives of prisoners serving life sentences – wife of Ibrahim Hamed to Mashaal: Thank you for making us live under an illusion for five years"
"The wife of prisoner Ibrahim Hamed and the wives of prisoners belonging to the Hamas movement who are serving life sentences and were not included in the latest [prisoner] exchange deal, rebuked Khaled Mashaal, head of the Hamas political bureau. In a letter which they sent to Mashaal, a copy of which was obtained by MAAN [News Agency], they said that Hamas had made them live under an illusion throughout the five years of captivity of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. In their letter, the wives of the prisoners said that Hamas had abandoned them as prey for the Israeli press, even though the movement had emphasized that the prisoner Ibrahim Hamed and the other prisoners were at the top of the list of those to be released. The wife of prisoner Hamed noted that Mashaal had told her in the past that these prisoners were a red line which 'we will not agree to back down on, or even to conduct negotiations over them'."
