  • We have agreed with the Hamas Movement on building partnership through democratic elections on a basis of proportional representation.
  • Tomorrow [Oct. 5, 2020] we will be in Damascus to hold conversations with a number of factions.
  • After the conversations, [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas] will be authorized to issue a presidential order that will determine the date for holding the elections.
  • The Palestinian people is the one that will decide who will lead it, and talk of an alternative leadership is stupid.”

BBC Arabic host: “Mr. Rajoub, if the current American administration led by [US President Donald] Trump – which as you said is persevering on the train of normalization between Israel and the Arab and Gulf states – continues to be in power, how would the PA deal with this?”

Fatah Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub: “First of all, we will not surrender and we will not raise a white flag. All of our options are open, including changing the rules of engagement.
