District Governor Abu Bakr said this during an activity for Nakba Day (see note below -Ed.) at the Umar ibn Abd Al-Aziz High School for Girls, which was held by the [Tulkarem] Education Directorate (i.e., under the PA Ministry of Education)… with the participation of Education Directorate Head Saed Qabha…

Qabha noted that Palestine… will remain in our hearts and our students’ hearts, despite the occupation’s attempts to erase the truth. He explained that the current generations are still yearning for the land of the ancestors, and that in the end the occupation will pass from the world.

Nakba Day - Palestinians commemorate Nakba Day on May 15, the day after the establishment of Israel. On May 15, 1948, combined forces from Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq joined local Arab forces in an attempt to eradicate the newly established State of Israel. The Nakba (Arabic = catastrophe) refers to the establishment of Israel, and the subsequent defeat in the war, including the killing and displacement of Arab civilians that occurred during the war.
