Those who sell land to Jews "sell their soul to the devil and must be excommunicated" - Palestinian Supreme Fatwa Council

Headline: “The [Palestinian Supreme] Fatwa Council called to take the threats of the occupation and the settlers against the Al-Aqsa Mosque seriously”

“The Palestinian Supreme Fatwa Council… again emphasized the fatwa (i.e., religious ruling) banning the sale of real estate and lands in Jerusalem, Hebron, and throughout Palestine to the occupation and its interests. It added: ‘Palestine is waqf land (i.e., an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law; see note below), which religious law bans the selling of its lands and properties or facilitating their transfer to the ownership of the enemies, as from a religious legal perspective they are considered public Islamic properties and not private property.’

The council said that selling lands and real estate to the occupation authorities or facilitating the transfer of their ownership through mercenary mediators constitutes high treasonagainst the religion, the homeland, and morality. It added that anyone who participates in this crime conspires against the Palestinian land, cause, and people, sells their soul to the devil, and must be excommunicated on all levels and renounced on the familial level and socially, so that it will constitute a lesson for all those considering relinquishing one inch of this blessed land…”

A waqf is an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law. Palestinians define all of Israel as waqf, and thereby Israel exists on Islamic holy land. Palestinian leaders have explained that under Islamic law Muslims are commanded to free the waqf from non-Muslims.
