Official PA TV newsreader: “In his conversation with American Envoy Hady Amr, [PA Prime Minister Muhammad] Shtayyeh said that ‘The launching of a serious political plan requires that there first be confidence building measures. We want the new Israeli government to protect the signed agreements, and as part of this to allow [PA] elections to be held in Jerusalem.’ Shtayyeh explained that holding the elections is an urgent matter for preserving the Palestinian national project and system, and he added ‘We are waiting for Israeli agreement that will allow us to hold [the elections] in Jerusalem in order to announce a new date for them.’”
