PA membership in UNESCO will prevent Israel from “continuing its forging and fabrication of truth and of history,” says PA daily columnist

Adel Abd Al-Rahman, regular columnist for official PA daily:
Headline:
"The importance of Palestine's membership in UNESCO"
"The acceptance of the State of Palestine as a full member of UNESCO [United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization] has important significance and advantages in the national liberation struggle of the Palestinian Arab nation:

e. [Palestinian membership in UNESCO] gives the Palestinian people and its political and cultural leadership an opportunity to protect directly the Palestinian heritage, antiquities, structures and culture within the international organization. It will prevent the Israeli occupation and aggression state from continuing its forging and fabrication of truth and of history, by attributing the antiquities, religious sites in Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Hebron, and the heritage of the Palestinian people in different areas, to itself. It will cause [Israel] to think a thousand times before claiming falsely that any of the antiquities on the historical land of Palestine – including [the land] upon which the State of Israel stands – belongs to the Jews. Even the alleged Temple has no basis on Palestinian land, according to Israeli archaeologists themselves.

h. [Palestinian membership in UNESCO] has emphasized the importance of the political, diplomatic and cultural battle to achieve the national aims, albeit through gradual steps. Thus it has responded to the native anarchist forces which continually call out loudly in the name of 'resistance', as though the other means of struggle do not represent resistance."
