Nablus governor condemns mothers of “Martyrs” as “crazy,” “Lions’ Den” demand his resignation

Headline: “The Nablus district governor describes the Martyrs’ mothers as ‘crazy,’ and ‘the lions’ den’ demands his resignation”

“In a matter that has aroused Palestinian rage, today, Wednesday [Oct. 5, 2022], District Governor of Nablus in the northern West Bank Ibrahim Ramadan described the mothers of some of the Martyrs as ‘crazy.’ …

In statements to the local radio station Al-Najah that is broadcast from Nablus, Ramadan said: ‘A mother is someone who displays delicateness and compassion- but there are crazy mothers who send their children to commit suicide and in the eyes of others they look like “female fighters.” This is not a mother.’

Following these statements, ‘The Lions’ Den’ (i.e., terror group within Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades responsible for a number of shooting attacks) demanded the Nablus district governor’s resignation. In a statement they said: ‘Resign and preserve your honor and the years you sacrificed in the occupation’s prison.’ …

The statement also said: ‘We all heard the offense to the mothers of the Martyrs of Palestine in the words of the Nablus district governor. We in The Lion’s Den – and behind us is the free Palestinian people – say to you that the Martyrs’ mothers are role models, they are the jewel in the crown. Without them, we would have no knowledge and no name. They are the gold mines, the light that we see at the end of the tunnel.’

‘The Lion’s Den’ continued: ‘Our message to the Martyrs’ mothers is that we kiss your hands, your feet, and your heads. We kiss the land that the soles of your feet walk upon. We say to the Martyrs’ mothers – you are the commanders and we are the soldiers. You command and we execute. Allah willing, we your drawn sword against the enemies. Allah willing, we are a time bomb that will explode on your command. O Martyrs’ mothers, the command is yours and the word is yours. Whenever you want the war will begin. You are the beginning and you are the end.’ …

The Nablus district governor said: ‘There is one weapon and it is the weapon of the PA. I sat with the young people of the old city of Nablus a number of times. We fear for the Palestinian blood and take pains so that blood will not be spilled. The popular resistance needs to exist, but [this] does not [mean] that I will sacrifice my life in vain.’

He continued: ‘I suggested to them (i.e., the young people of the old city of Nablus who join the terror group The Lion’s Den -Ed.) that we defend them as much as we can, and perhaps there will be a solution with the other side (i.e., Israel) regarding them. Discussions were held, some of them agreed and some did not. Those who agreed were accused of treason because they are handing themselves over, and they embarrased them.’

The senior Palestinian official added: ‘We want a situation that will spare them and all of Nablus from many things. I fear for the lives of these resistance members, they do not understand the true value of their blood, which is precious… You are our children; this blood must not be spilled. We are not in a situation of armed resistance, and whoever wants it – there is the rural area. I emphasize that I can defend them, at least I want to. Their blood is Palestinian par-excellence, and they must be saved, even if they are not convinced of this.’

On everything concerning the capture of four settlers (two women and two children) [parentheses in source] by ‘The Lions’ Den’ in the old city of Nablus (refers to two Israeli women who entered Nablus with their children to shop on Oct. 4, 2022, where they were captured by terrorists and later released -Ed.), and the fact that the resistance members did not harm them but rather handed them over to the Palestinian [PA] Security Forces, who in turn handed them over to the occupation, Ramadan said: ‘From an interrogation of the man who brought them to Nablus… it arose that he did not bring them intentionally.’

Ramadan said: ‘I see the Palestinian good traits, how these young people (i.e., members of “The Lions’ Den” terror group) behaved even though they were Israelis. This is the sixth incident under such circumstances.’ When the [radio] broadcaster wondered: ‘Why didn’t they hold onto them and exchange them for female prisoners?’ Ramadan responded: ‘Israel would reject that.’ He added: ‘But Israel is executing young [Palestinian] people, it is not arresting them. There is hostility between human rights and the occupying soldier.’

On everything concerning the importance of the resistance, Ramadan said: ‘There is no Palestinian who does not love the resistance. Even a spy deep down loves the resistance. But what is the resistance? It is a movement that exists to take me out of the pressure that I live in, but military activities today are useless. There may be a time for this in the future.’”
