Al-Aqsa TV, Hamas  |
In October 2011, the Israeli government agreed to release 1,027 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prison in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who had been held hostage by Hamas for more than 5 years.
Hamas TV program
Festival and Freedom marked the Festival of Sacrifice and the release of prisoners in the Shalit deal with the following song:
"Today we fulfilled [our commitment] to those who are free
Today we fulfilled [our commitment] to those who are free
We achieved what we hoped for
We destroyed the prisons of evil
Today we fulfilled [our commitment] to those who are free
We achieved what we hoped for
We destroyed the prisons of evil
We liberated what was dear to us
A thousand prisoners were liberated
And the freed women –
Twenty-seven moons (i.e., beautiful woman)
More precious than the sight of our eyes
Ahlam Tamimi commands
Ahlam Tamimi commands
Her sacrifice, oh men, will meet us
If Nael Barghouti passes by us, we will be filled with pride
If Abdallah Barghouti passes us by, we will be filled with pride
Abbas Al-Sayid insisted on
Being the last hero to be liberated
And closing the Ketziot prison, and Ofer
Closing the Ketziot prison, and Ofer
And Netanyahu committed suicide over the defeat
The ape, Israel, will remain sad
And the new Shalit [will be] humiliated at our hands
All the prisons will be emptied
Flags and decorations will flutter
Over Al-Aqsa [Mosque], Haifa, and Jaffa
Every neighborhood and street, village and city."
