PA daily: Abbas to build houses for prisoners released in Shalit deal

"President Mahmoud Abbas has decided to build houses for the released prisoners, through the Palestine Investment Fund. This [announcement was made] during a reception held yesterday afternoon at the presidential headquarters for some of the released prisoners who had served many years in the occupation's prisons. The President emphasized that the Palestinian leadership gives priority to the prisoners' cause and that it is raised in all meetings with all world leaders. He saluted the awe-inspiring resolve demonstrated by the Palestinian prisoners in the face of the arrogance and oppression of the prison guards, thereby emphasizing the right of this people to achieve its independence and to achieve its independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the 1967 borders."

Note: Hundreds of the released prisoners were convicted on charges of murder and terror offenses.
