PLO official: terrorist murderers are “defenders of freedom”

Headline: “Fattouh called on the [Pan-]African Parliament to reject Israel’s membership”

“Head of the Palestinian National Council (i.e., the legislative body of the PLO) Rawhi Fattouh… said that thousands of Palestinians are in the occupation’s prisons, and among them are those who have served over 40 years such as Nael Barghouti (i.e., terrorist, murdered 1 together with accomplices) and Karim Younes (i.e., terrorist, murdered 1 together with an accomplice), those who have passed the age of 80 such as Fuad Al-Shubaki (i.e., PA official and weapons smuggler), and those who are fighting death such as Nasser Abu Hmeid (i.e., terrorist, responsible for murder of 7). Israel is accusing them of terror, but they are defenders of freedom according to international law (sic.).”

Rawhi Fattouh also serves as Fatah Commissioner of International Relations

Nael, Fakhri, and Omar Barghouti – Palestinian terrorist relatives and Fatah and Hamas members who stabbed and murdered Israeli bus driver Mordechai Yekuel, 27, after stopping his bus by pretending to be hitchhikers north of Ramallah on Jan. 29, 1978. All three were sentenced to life, but Omar was released in the Jibril Exchange in May 1985. Nael and Fakhri were released in the Shalit prisoner exchange deal in 2011. Nael was arrested again in 2014 for violating the terms of his release by offering Hamas to serve as its minister of prisoners' affairs, and is serving a life sentence plus an additional 18 years. Omar was later rearrested, held under administrative detention, and released; he has served an accumulated total of 26 years in prison.

Karim Younes - Israeli Arab terrorist who kidnapped and murdered Israeli soldier Avraham Bromberg in 1980 together with his cousin Maher Younes. Younes was originally sentenced to life in prison, but Israeli President Shimon Peres reduced his sentence in 2012. Younes is serving a 40-year sentence. In May 2017 Younes was appointed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to the Fatah Central Committee. Younes was released from prison on Jan. 5, 2023.
